We have been working on rebuilding the theater room and this is a lot of work. The work started in Feburary 2022 and likely will be done in August or September hopefully. There will be blog posts under Theater detailing the progress and the blog is behind as I am just building this website in June.
I went through the process to revamp the theater room with new equipment. I will be detailing what I choose and why in the theater blog posts.
We have a decent collection of DVDs, Blurays and 4K-Blurays. This will take some time but we have a goal to catalog the movies and formats we have here in order to quickly find movies to watch. This will also help to not repurchase movies that we already have or determine the format we currently have if there is for example a 4K upgrade.
Physical media is still king. Streaming is decent but typically is 25Mbps+ compressed and likely a lossy compression solution. Physical media for 4k is 100Mbps uncompressed both video and audio. While streaming is great you will definately notice a large difference in quality when viewing in 4K physical. So, when a new movie is released you can weigh out the importance of the experience of that movie to yourself. Some movies you're fine streaming others you want the full experience and so we still buy physical media. There are also old movies that are re-released on 4K which can be interesting to buy and see how good the experience has improved.
Everyone likes to get their opinions out there and so after watching a movie we may review it here. This could be in video or blog format. We are not really big on who directed what and simply looking at the experience of the movie itself and will give our opinions thereof. We will also review other items such as equipement and what not.
